Do you look your age?

I was reading through the posts today, only to come across the Zac Efron comments. Everyone seemed so surprised that he's 19. I find it hard to believe too. This got me thinking of my own experiences like this.

I went home in early June to visit my mom and brother. While I was there, I stopped into my mom's work to see her before I left. A female coworker of hers had a friend in to see her. The friend guessed that I was 18. I turned 24 less than a month later.

This has been happening to me forever. It was a pain when I was dating someone who is 9 years older than me, because I looked so much younger. Everyone seemed to think I looked too young to be with him. His older brother's girlfriend is a year younger than me and still looks years older.

Last week I went to get my eyebrows done. I went with a friend of mine, also 9 years older than me. I went in first. The girl working there asked me if my friend was my mother.

Only recently I've noticed that I've been asked for my ID less a little less than often. I didn't care when I turned 19 and was going to bars, but it's gotten a little old being asked to prove I'm 19 all the time. Everyone also thinks it's funny when they see I was born in 1983 and says "wow, you look so young!". Yeah, I know. I'll love it when I'm older, but as for right now, I hate it.

I know there's got to be more people out there with this problem, so do you have any stories to share?

Everyone thinks I'm older than I am! I work at a Mexican restaurant and people alsways ask me if the margaritas are good but I've actually got a few more years until I'm 21...people are really shocked when I tell them that. I've never thought I look older and none of my friends think I do either, but people that haven't met me before usually do.

People think I'm older, they always have. I think it has a lot to do with my height.
When I was 13-14 I had 19 year old (give or take) guys hitting on me. Once they found out how old I was they were completely shocked. When I was 11-15 I could get into clubs, clubs that I shouldn't be able to get into, and was NEVER carded. It happens more frequently when I'm around my 8 and 6 year old cousins (whom I'm very close to). EVERYONE seems to think they are my children. People referring to me as that happened about 80 times in a month last year.
I honestly don't see how I could look old enough to have an 8 year old child, especially since I was only 19 at the time. Personally, I don't think I look any older than my actual age.

ugh.. sorry to say this but it gets a bit annoying to hear girls complaining about looking younger when i am constantly being told i look older than my age (like the two posters above me).
i was born in 1987 and people always give me 5 if not 10 years older than i really am. they say it's my "attitude" whatever that is.. Sad

When people see me at first glance, they think I'm a lot younger then 22. When I work with people or volunteer with people they think because of my personality, that I am a lot older then 22. I guess it just depends on where I'm at and what I'm doing Smiling

To candy apple, for some girls it's not just looking youthful, they look really young. I (guiltily) wandered into a Claire's store (even though I'm definitely too old to be in there) and I saw a girl who looked about eleven, maybe twelve in there, but I heard her talking to the clerk and she said she was 24 and showed the clerk her license to prove it! If I were drinking something I would have spit it out everywhere when I heard she was 24; I could have bet money she was in the 6th grade.

It's probably hard to look like a child when you're an adult because other people might treat you like a child just based on appearance; it's not just about looking young when you get to be very old.

I worked at a high school when I was 23-25 and always got told to "go to class" and get off my cell phone. It was annoying but I am sure glad that I look younger than I am. And I'm trying to keep it that way!

I get told I look younger than I am a lot, too. Last thursday some guy thought I was 19 (I'm 25). This has been happening for awhile. When I was going to college my freshman year someone thought I was going to be a freshman in high school. Like Daylyn said, I usually have people thinking I'm older if they've spoken to me (like on the phone at work). I'm glad I look younger than I am, but I can understand it being frustrating. I have a friend who's 24 but looks like she's about 13. She's starting her first year as a middle school teacher and is worried that everyone will think she's a student.

I've always acted much older than I look, but many people still can't get over the visual part.

I think I found my solution though. After a long day of yard work, I'm tired, achy, and think I look terrible. I ran a brush through my hair and went on my way to get groceries where I proceeded to get hit on by a man who had to be in his 40's. When I looked in the mirror when I got home I realized that looking like hell makes me look older...either that or he's in mid-life crisis mode.

Moral of the story: Is it worth all of today's activities and feeling exhausted to look older? Heck no. I'm off to have a shower and take 5 years off my age!

People always tell me that a look very young or that I have baby face, I'm 26 but they think I'm 21...I think is great cause my husband is a bit younger than me but actually looks older Eye-wink....Same thing happens to my sister, she is 22 and people always think she is 16 so is a good thing!...I guess is genetics! Sticking out tongue
