I was reading through the posts today, only to come across the Zac Efron comments. Everyone seemed so surprised that he's 19. I find it hard to believe too. This got me thinking of my own experiences like this.
I went home in early June to visit my mom and brother. While I was there, I stopped into my mom's work to see her before I left. A female coworker of hers had a friend in to see her. The friend guessed that I was 18. I turned 24 less than a month later.
This has been happening to me forever. It was a pain when I was dating someone who is 9 years older than me, because I looked so much younger. Everyone seemed to think I looked too young to be with him. His older brother's girlfriend is a year younger than me and still looks years older.
Last week I went to get my eyebrows done. I went with a friend of mine, also 9 years older than me. I went in first. The girl working there asked me if my friend was my mother.
Only recently I've noticed that I've been asked for my ID less a little less than often. I didn't care when I turned 19 and was going to bars, but it's gotten a little old being asked to prove I'm 19 all the time. Everyone also thinks it's funny when they see I was born in 1983 and says "wow, you look so young!". Yeah, I know. I'll love it when I'm older, but as for right now, I hate it.
I know there's got to be more people out there with this problem, so do you have any stories to share?
....Same thing happens to my sister, she is 22 and people always think she is 16 so is
a good thing!...I guess is genetics!
Everyone thinks I'm older than I am! I work at a Mexican restaurant and people alsways ask me if the margaritas are good but I've actually got a few more years until I'm 21...people are really shocked when I tell them that. I've never thought I look older and none of my friends think I do either, but people that haven't met me before usually do.
